This was the last project that we undertook while working under Mark Lecchini Architects who was so gracious in teaching us the fundamentals of architectural design. His philosophy in design is something that we have borrowed in our present designs in our architectural practice and that is “Form follows function.” by Louis Sullivan.
These are 3 stunning houses built in the lush gardens at Muthaiga in Nairobi County. They sit on half an acre each near the Karura forest. Some of the beautiful features of these houses are double volume spaces in the living room, use of home automation systems to control the lighting, opening and shutting down of roller shutters, irrigation system among other services within the house, Windows installed with glass that has UV reflective

This is a renovation project whereby we transformed a kitchen that has been in operation the last 20 years to a modern kitchen. We changed the sanitary fittings that is the tap and sink. We also changed the cabinet doors into modern white glassy boards. We partnered with Newmatic Kitchens who supplied the kitchen appliances such as the oven and hood. Some of the unique features of the kitchen was the use of Dekton stone as counter stone and also as backsplash.

This is a three bedroom plus DSQ apartment in lifestyle apartments, Tatu City that was renovated from the original finishes. It entailed changing the interiors of the house by changing the colour of the walls playing with neutral paint colours and wallpapers. It involved changing the color of the kitchen and the bedroom wardrobes and also involved changing the light fixtures of the house. We installed mkeka wa mbao over the laminate wooden floors to give the house warmth and better aesthetics to the colour of laminates that had been previously installed.

This is a 5 bedroom house located in Kerarapon, Ngong. The house is constructed on a gentle sloping site within a gated community. Some of the unique design features for the house are double volume spaces above the living room, entrance lobby and the internal garden near the staircase. The house also has a gallery walkway for the family to hang their family pictures. There is a double opening chimney that serves the dining and the living room. The family terrace overlooks the stunning nearby forest for great views. The house also has an office on ground level, a gym and utility room on the second floor. For the garden area at the back, there shall be a conversation pit with an open fireplace at the center.

This is a 40 ft container project where we converted the container into a spa of two massage parlours, a ladies salon and men’s barber. Some of the special features of the conversion of space was use of steel sections, gypsum and glass elements to the space to maximize on the use of space.

These are eight units of similar design that are to be built along the Kiambu Road, in Kugeria Estate. Two of the houses are already built and they boast of ample parking and beautiful lawns with a large backyard. They also have a straight floating staircase to the first floor as an added feature to the houses.

This was an office complex of two floors that had offices for all the staff of army band headquarters at Lang’ata barracks. Among other rooms included were offices what were meant for storing all their diverse musical instruments that are mainly played during major presidential guard of honours and also in most public holiday functions.

This was a 3 bedroom bungalow house located in Merishaw, Ngong. Some of the unique features for the site is the shape of the site itself, the site overlooking Ngong hills and has an SGR rail track a few meters from it. These were the major factors considered when conceptualizing the space. The client’s special request was to have an office and a large compound for them to host their guests.

This was a commercial space in the Citadel building along Muthithi Road in westlands. The idea behind the project was to renovate the space from the former occupant’s style which was the British Airways office to their own style which was purely open plan office with privacy rooms as the boardroom and a smaller board room and their workshop space. The theme for the project was neutral colours which are a blank canvas for the client to furnish it to their taste.

This is a proposed five storey development of two – two bedroom units in each floor. Some of the unique features are open playground spaces within the compound, master bedroom ensuite, large living room spaces.

This is a 5 bedroom house plus DSQ house located in Ruiru. The site’s main feature is that it sits overlooking the Kilimanjaro mountains. Therefore we took that as a major consideration when orienting the house. The big windows and the balcony of the master bedroom as well as the open terrace on the second floor have their views facing the mountain. Our client’s main goal was to have a big house enough to host their children and grandchildren. Another unique feature for the house are two kitchens, clean and dirty kitchen. The clean kitchen is mainly for the owners of the house while the dirty kitchen is for the main food preparation. The living room and the dining room are also sunken to create a nigger headroom. It also has a kitchenette and a water closet at the second floor level because the family loves to host. Another unique feature in the house is the double volume space at the entrance lobby.

M.N house, Ndeiya: This is a three-bedroom house whose special features are detached bedrooms from the main house linked by a corridor with full height glass windows on ground and first floor. The dsq unit is also not attached to the main house but has a special design of path that is linked to the main house via a store. The living room is also sunk by three steps. The master bedroom has its own lounge and walk-in closet.
